THE RAPE OF POLYXENAMy day did not go exactly according to plan.

I knew I had a coaching call scheduled, and I planned a strategy session to finish work on a program I will be offering out soon.  Basically, a loose day allowing room for creative work-play.

The toilet decided to act up, flushing by itself at increasingly shorter intervals.  I knew I would be unable to ignore it, and found myself frustrated that this problem appeared when I had work to do.

(You know, The Universe should have scheduled this for the day I wanted to work on the toilet, and had plenty of spare time.)

Needing to get in the right frame of mind for my coaching call, I went outside to a beautiful day, although hot and humid.  The call was a lot of fun, a highlight of my day.

Back inside, the incessant flushing beckoned.  I did a little research online, grabbed some tools, and went to work.  I was actually able to fairly quickly diagnose the problem and remedy the situation.  In the process, though, I did water much of the bathroom floor, so I followed up the repair work with a lovely cleaning of the floor.  On a side note, but tangentially related, I also cleaned out the drain of the bathtub.

I went for a run, which can often aid me getting my head in a good place (or out of the way).  After that I showered, did some laundry, then vacuumed.  As I was considering getting to the work on the program, I was needed for shuttle service, then out for an early anniversary dinner.

When we returned, it was still light, so I worked in the garden for about an hour, requiring another shower after.

Here’s my point–if I look at what I planned to do today, I failed.  But, I did some good work today.  Good coaching.  Fixed the toilet (mostly).  Did some household chores, which makes me feel successful, and which the wife appreciates.  Spent a lovely time with Joy at dinner.  Got my run in and got my hands dirty in the garden.

I feel good-tired, and I’ll take it.

Look out tomorrow, we’ve got some work to do (hopefully).
