I’m just like everyone else…sometimes a sequence of commitments and “stuff” catch up with us, and we feel drained.  What I’m coming to realize and accept is that rather than “soldiering on” and “toughing it out,” the best strategy is to get the rest I need, and start again newly invigorated.

Today, and now, is one of those moments.  But, I want to meet the challenge I’ve given myself, so I figure I’ll hit on some highlights of my day.  Then, off to bed.Mayes Tuscany

  • Up early with the golfers.  City Championship today, and a lot of good guys participating.
  • Thorough (and critical) feedback from my Buddy on the info I’m developing for my program.
  • 11th day of running out of the last 13, and 5 days in a row (even with this crazy heat).
  • On my run, I crossed paths with 6 young poults.  I seemed to surprise them (what is he doing in this heat?), but they gave me heed and trotted on their way.
  • My wife put together an awesome pasta primavera with fresh veggies from the farmers’ market, and I grilled corn on the cob.
  • Finished Every Day in Tuscany: Seasons of an Italian Life by Frances Mayes.  Just like with any good book, this completion is met with mixed emotion.  Time for the end of one beautiful thing to be replaced by another beautiful thing.
  • A little ice cream with the wife, then off to bed.

Peace and Comfort to You!
