Sunrise Pages March

Good Morning, Dear Creator,

Here we are, beginning another day together.  And, what a lovely, colorful sunrise.  It started as just a subdued pink, then brightened and deepened to a more fiery red and orange.  Slowly, those tones softened and faded until finally returning to just a mottled gray overcast.

Dear Universe, that show probably lasted all of ten minutes, and I was tuned in to watch it.  It’s one of the gifts that I’ve been given taken – the space enough and stillness enough to notice the Wonder around me.

I think of all the sunrises that I’ve seen while writing all these Sunrise Pages, by getting up and looking out at the world.  I am not guaranteed a spectacular sunrise; that’s not the deal.  But, when I turn my attention out into the world, I can experience something worth experiencing, each day.  Something I would miss out on otherwise.

Sometimes that is a spectacular sunrise.  Sometimes, it’s just the song of a bird, or the soothing rhythm of a steady rain.  Watching smoke rise from chimneys, or storm clouds roiling across the sky.

I mentioned yesterday that creating joy in your life requires a re-programming.  Ultimately, it’s about slowing down and opening up to what is right here with you, and appreciating it.  This is different from the push and struggle we’ve been taught, the mantra of “never enough” – that the things we have aren’t enough, the life we’re living isn’t enough, and that we, most certainly, are not enough.

Sometimes we need to take a break from our dogged, tireless Pursuit of Happiness, and just take a moment and be happy.

That’s the re-programming I’m talking about.  But, it’s shocking, radical, and different.  So, it’s also uncomfortable, to start.

In The Joy Diet, Martha Beck offers ten practices that change the way you move through your world.  She starts with a basic, fundamental practice, and then each successive practice builds upon the ones before.

The philosophy and practices presented in The Joy Diet, and the change they will bring to you in your life, are simple, but they probably won’t seem easy.

Well, not at first.

But, we’ve talked before about what is easy.  We are brainwashed into believing that change is hard – too hard, in fact.  That it’s just easier to let everything stay the same.

Yet, each day when we are dissatisfied and disconnected, and when we are living a life lacking Joy – How Hard is that?  How heart-breaking is it, when we know how unfulfilled we are today, and we know it will be the same tomorrow?

When your life feels hard and empty, stop using all your energy and will to try to convince yourself otherwise.  Instead, use that energy and will to create the change you desire.

The Joy Diet is a structure by which you learn and implement strategies that guide you through the creative change process.  And creating joy is my companion program that gives you rich, in-depth discussion, detailed support, and structured accountability on the road to Change and Joy.

Prompt of the Day:

Write one to two paragraphs about what a day of complete joy would be for you.

Dear Guides, I am honored by your Support.  Much Love!
