Awaken, Dear Spirits!

Awaken the bright light of Hope within me; the Energy and Courage of Love and Freedom that allow me to put forth and share my Best Self – Brave, Creative, Inspired – Magical.

Dear Creator, you offer me this Love and Freedom each day, when you offer me the morning like a blank piece of paper or new, empty canvas.

How often do we look at that blank paper and think that we must write in straight lines and within the margins?  Or, with a blank canvas, that we have to use one certain technique and certain specific colors?  We often are totally unaware of the rules and restrictions we impose on ourselves.

But, then we’ll discover someone who has done something new and different.  She/he has pushed past these mental barriers to a new, wide open reality.  This happens socially, artistically, and personally, forever changing the world as we knew it.

We witness many stories of people who refuse to live small and safe; who refuse to believe that failure is fatal and damning.

Instead, they explore new ideas and new ways of doing things; they summon inspiration and conjure creativity; they play joyfully as they live, taking inspired action.

We see people living full, courageous, Purposeful lives, and we admire them.  We tell ourselves these people must be different from us; they must be special – because they have gone beyond the restrictions that bind us; they live beyond the limitations that limit our life.

Creators, Innovators, Dreamers, Inventors – those who focus on and work at their passion; whether painter, trainer, glass-blower, preacher, nurse, teacher, traveler, writer, athlete, or cook – those people who dedicate time and energy to their passion and what they are inspired to do.

We see these people, pursuing their passions and creatively expressing their Purpose, and we think, “Wow, they’re so different and so lucky.  They’re living such charmed lives.”

And, yes, they are living differently.  And, yes, they do feel fortunate.  And there is a magical quality to their lives.

Now.

But, they started where we all start.  Then, at some point, they started making different choices – I’d rather fail than not try.  I have to create; I can’t help myself.  I don’t care what other people say; I believe I can do it.

I enjoy doing this too much to stop doing it just because I do it poorly.

This may seem obvious, but one of the secrets to Joy in Our Lives is doing the things we enjoy doing.  This is different than believing that we should only do the things we are good at, and that we’ll learn to enjoy them; or that we won’t experience joy from something unless we are really good at it.

The woodworker, guitar player, chef, and doctor all had a “first time” when they took action toward their Calling.  Raw and inexperienced, I’m sure they were nervous and unsure, struggled, and had varying degrees of success.  Just like any of us.

The difference is, they continued and persevered, because doing it was just too joyful and fulfilling, than to stop just because they did it poorly at first.

A Prompt for the Day:

Refer to your “Day of Joy” writing from yesterday.  What is something you wrote yesterday that you would do, even though you may not do it well?

Imagine what might change if you continued to do that joyful action often.

Thank you, Dear Guides, for inspiring My Joyful Writing!
