Sunrise Pages April

Greetings and Welcome to Another Morning, Dear Creator!

Bird Call Symphony greets me this morning, O Universe!  Or, maybe I am rested enough and steady and open enough to hear it?

Today has begun differently than the last 90.  I did not type up yesterday morning’s writings last night.  Instead, I ended up in bed a couple hours (at least) earlier, read for a bit, and slept well.

Upon waking, I opted to type up yesterday’s Sunrise Pages to post, and also designed a new cover photo for April.

That all went well, and now I’ll see if that work has an effect on these writings.

I will say that I seem to be hearing a real depth and complexity to the bird songs this morning.  I do believe it is in part allowed by a greater capacity I have to noticing, thanks to being rested and more at peace.

I mentioned yesterday how, truly, as my thoughts went to my “shoulds,” a sort of tunnel focus took over that blocked out the bird calls.

This is a difference between having tunnel-vision versus being “in the flow.”  When our mind goes into fight-flight-or-freeze mode, it hyper-focuses on one thing, blocking out everything else as distraction.  When we are “in the flow,” like an athlete or artist, we are clear and hyper-aware of everything – everything seems extra clear and extra sharp.  Like Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson calculating moving players, fast pace, arcs, and trajectories for no-look passes, cuts to the hoop, and 3’s from beyond the arc.  Or Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth reading greens for chips and putts, gauging just the right speed and line, again and again.

And, in a similar way, I think I find “the zone” when I’m walking in the woods and notice the slight movement of a chipmunk, woodpecker, or snake.  When my consciousness notices a deer camouflaged in the woods, standing stark still.  When I take the time to look up, spotting the eagle or hawk flying overhead or roosting on the tree alongside the highway.

Or, when I’m tuning in to my creative link with The Universe, to write the morning’s pages, and I’m still hearing the full symphony of morning sounds – birds, the hum of the distant highway traffic, the hum of a fan, the churn of the washing machine.  All together, the triumphant Morning Music.

Where does this awareness go, at other times?  Where is this Ray?

This is the cost.  This is what I sacrifice yield render when I follow my thoughts, letting my lizard brain and social self direct the show.

I lose this clarity, this awareness.  I lose All.

We tell ourselves that we can’t notice it all.  We talk ourselves into our limits.

Simply put, there is expansion or constriction.  And, we fool ourselves into believing The Universe is the one shifting.  Ha!

No, Dear One, it is Your Consciousness that’s shifting.

Try this Prompt:

How would you describe being “in the Flow?”  Write about a time when you experienced “being in the Flow.”

Thank You, Dear Guides, for tuning my radio this morning to such a symphony!
