The New Day Begins, Dearest Creator!
It’s early, early morning on Tournament Day! I got about four hours sleep, and I’m up and at these pages before my two hour drive down to Salem. I just accomplished a rare feat. Usually, when I’m super-tired and need to wake extra early, I struggle to sleep soundly, nervous that I’ll oversleep. Tonight, though, I slept well. Thank you, Spirit Guides!
This is something new – Defending Champion. I had never won anything like a golf tournament before, so I’ve never had to “defend” a title.
My partner for this Two-Ball Tournament is my former boss at the golf course. We aren’t the best golfers, but we both played at the top of our games last year, and we got lucky in that when one of us struggled, the other played well.
I have no illusions about expectations of winning again. That said, I’ve also seen a lot of wonder and miracles lately; so, anything is possible.
All in all, I’m excited to return to the golf course and see a lot of people I haven’t seen since last summer. There are a bunch of great guys, and very good golfers.
I can see now how so much of my transformation really began during the time I was in Salem and at the golf course; even though, at the time, those changes were so incrementally small that I thought I was still stuck.
Who I am now is built upon the guy I was then. Rediscovering golf in my forties, my first experience at getting deep practice in something about which I am passionate, stumbling upon/creating a way by which I could practice and play golf for free. Vibrating a thread of deep connection between my departed dad and myself. A thread that also connects me to my brother. Deep, heartfelt miracle.
And so, today I offer you this Prompt:
I’ve asked this before – what are your passions? Make a list of your Top 5.
Are you spending any time in your life practicing your passions?
Or, are you telling yourself that you don’t have time right now?
Please, please, please – stop waiting!
I’m such a lucky, lucky person. With Deepest Gratitude and Love, My Guides! Early Happy Father’s Day, Dad. Thinking of you!
