Good Morning, My Dear Guides!
I like how Sunday mornings always feel sleepy to me in this little town. This morning there’s a heavy fog, so I can’t see much past the trees bordering the nearest front yards. And, there’s a steady mechanical droning that I’ve noticed other Sunday mornings, from some nearby industrial machinery, I assume. It provides a white noise backdrop for the various chirps and whistles of the families of nearby songbirds.
As I write, the white of this sheet of paper seems to brighten, indicating the sun’s presence above the present fog. Today, we have kayaking classes, with cloudy skies, the temperature around 60°F, and winds blowing 20-30 mph. That could prove a dynamic and interesting challenge.
Yesterday was my return to Salem. It was an early and long day. It was great to see my former boss and spend the morning golfing with him. We had a good time, but just too many missed putts to be in contention.
There were guys who I always appreciated knowing during my time at the course, and it was great catching up with them.
It’s funny – there were also the little dramas, personality conflicts, and scheduling issues that I am so grateful to no longer be around or any part of. The trip down was nice, but also made me more aware of what I have gained by our move up here.
Sure, I miss getting the opportunity to golf more regularly, and to spend time with certain people. When I do play, it’s certainly more fun to have my game tuned up and regularly shoot lower scores.
But, all in all, up here my soul feels more full, and I’m more at peace, with myself and the world. This is good. This is better.
A Prompt for Today:
Change – What are three things you wish were different in your life? Write them down – 1, 2, 3.
Try to just hold them for a minute.
Next, write down three roadblocks that you see preventing these changes in your life.
Just notice the changes you wish, and what you think might be hindering those changes; without launching into story about what you “should” be doing about it.
Just hold it, and notice.
More peace, and my soul is full. Life is Good, My Dear Guides!
