Sunrise Pages September

Good Morning, Glorious Creator!

A heavy fog covers us this morning.  There’s a brightness to it; I can see the house next door clearly, but beyond that, everything shimmers and disappears behind gray-white veils.  Although it’s bright, there is absolutely no sign of the sun.

Ah – yesterday was an unexpected day.  I got a call in the morning with an opportunity to start my workday early, with a kayaking class, before heading back to close my shift in-store.  Upon arriving at the site, I was joined by our regional supervisor – so that was an unexpected visit that felt like an unofficial audit.  She began by asking me about my future plans with my store’s ODS programs – a question I was not prepared to answer.

So, I definitely felt off-kilter for much of my time on the water.

Then, I headed to the store for the rest of my shift, and I found that a challenging transition.  It was tough to get focused on the patterns, rhythms, and dialogues I use in-store.

So, most of yesterday seemed unbalanced.  I got home, reheated the home-made pizza I had made the night before, and just tried to relax and reflect.

One benefit of the day was that I was tired and ready for bed.  I think I slept soundly, although I did find myself half-awake at some point in the night, not able to immediately fall back asleep.  But, this morning I feel well-rested.  Sleep Scale: 4/5.

I return to the water today for a full day of kayak instruction.  It looks to be a nice day, but the river has begun to get a little cooler.  So, the season is winding down, and fall is beginning.

I’m ready.

A Prompt for Today:

Even on days that seem chaotic and out-of-control, there’s an opportunity to learn something more about ourselves.

Take the time to reflect on the path of your day, the situations you faced, the thoughts that you had, and the choices that you made.

From your Observer’s perspective, without shame or blame, consider how and why the choices you made led to the rest of your day, right to this moment.

What might you do differently next time?

It’s all wonderful practice in the Art of Living, My Loving Guides!  Thank You!
