Bright Morning, Dear Creator!
The sun is shining in a mix of clouds and blue sky. There’s a steady, cool breeze quaking and trembling the bright-colored leaves still on the trees. It’s the start of a lovely fall day.
My wife and I spent part of the day yesterday with another couple, hiking Mount Cardigan. It was a cloudy, drizzly-damp day up on the mountain. It was a fun adventure, and we got to know our new friends better.
They had walked the Camino together a few summers ago, and they shared their experience with us, on our way up the mountain. It was a curious thing that on a day when my morning post was about the Camino, we spent time with two who had walked it, and we heard a lot of details about it.
Our friends are originally from the Midwest, and New England is new to them. Alyson shared that she does appreciate being able to go hiking up a mountain like this on a Sunday afternoon, but then said a really beautiful, poetic thing – “I miss seeing the change of seasons by watching the changing colors of the fields.”
Our sense of Home. It feels different to each of us; means something different to each of us. I think it also feels different to us at different times and stages in our life.
It’s another of those whispers from our heart. It’s a part of those concurrent needs – to feel independent, to explore, to learn, and to dare the Unknown; at the same time, to feel connected, loved and loving, seen and understood. New Lands, and Home.
I offer you this Prompt to consider:
Dear One, if New Lands and Home are at opposite ends of a spectrum, have you considered where you wish to be on that spectrum?
Are you there already? Or, maybe you feel a little stuck and trapped, desiring adventure and change? Or, do you wish you had consistency and a place that felt peaceful, inviting, and Home?
It’s worth examining, because that internal incongruity can cause tension and struggle. You can’t just wish it away, or simply silence or ignore it.
A longing for Home, or for Adventure, is a bell that you can answer.
When we listen to our heart’s desires, and take action, it brings us to Peace and Fulfillment. Listening, My Dear Guides!
