Moments, Abundant Universe!

It is night, and I am just beginning today’s Pages.  It has been a full and festive weekend.

The setting for yesterday’s wedding was enchanting – a stone estate located in a state park.  Surrounded by the vibrant fall foliage, we sat on the back patio, looking up at the blue sky and billowy white clouds, framed by tall pines, as waves of starlings flew overhead, and we watched two young souls, kind and sharing, pledge their love and commitment to each other.

We chatted with others nearby, and later with those with whom we were seated, and we danced – a lot.  We had fun.

It is these times when things are at their best.  And, it’s not about expecting every moment to be this fun and easy.

No, the lesson is that we cherish these best of times, and treasure them; and, when the challenges, disagreements, and bumps in the road come – and they will – that we remember these best of times, and anchor ourselves by that love and promise of commitment.

There is magic in dedication, persistence, forgiveness, and compromise – it is with this magic that any relationship is nurtured and sustained, and grows.

Dancing and laughing together is a lot of fun, of course.  But, being there, to hold a hand or to be leaned upon through times of hardship, sadness, or loss – even when we are part of the pain or struggle – can be the most rewarding thing we ever do in our life.

I met some warm, wonderful people this weekend.

And, I was reminded, all over again, of the love I share with my amazing wife; and, in my heart, I renewed my commitment to her, and we celebrated our union, in the presence of the wonderful new union we witnessed.

A Prompt for you, Dear One:

Loving-kindness meditation – it is so valuable, and so fulfilling, to take the time to remember and appreciate the loved ones in our lives.

As you sit in meditation, bring each loved one to mind, and spend a moment truly cherishing some unique aspect of her/his being.

Too often, this is another place where we slip into auto-pilot.

Press PAUSE and spend that moment in true appreciation for whom each is and what s/he means to you.

Let me take the time to cherish those I have, and thank the Universe for abundantly giving so much to me.  Blessings and Gratitude, Beloved Guides!
