Aiming High, My Powerful Creator!
Rain and fog greet me this morning. Most of the trees have lost most of their leaves, and the area’s colors have faded to the monochrome of late fall into winter.
We’re halfway through November, Dear One. What a surprising year it’s been for me. Monumental, in many ways.
And, I feel it all began unfolding with two small but daring decisions I made. First, to apply at Bean for a seasonal position. And second, to write and share my Sunrise Pages as a regular practice, ideally every day – even though I didn’t think I could meet that goal.
Being out of the workforce for a few years, I had lost confidence in myself and my abilities. Bean was a great environment with encouraging colleagues, and I quickly thrived. It worked out very well, but I was still surprised, and slightly intimidated, when I was offered a promotion after just my fourth day on the job. Right place at the right time, I told myself; they must be desperate, and I’m just lucky. But, it was more than that, and, despite my self-doubt, I accepted the position and continued to grow and shine.
Then, taking the leap to write and publicly post my Sunrise Pages. Again, much self-doubt, yet daring to do anyway.
In so doing, I feel my writing is stronger than ever, and I’ve attained greater clarity on who I am and what it is I stand for.
Then came the whole miracle of becoming a paddling instructor. Never, before this year, had I imagined it could be possible.
And, now, it’s time to leap again!
A Prompt for you:
Dear One, let me start by stating how much I appreciate that you are here, sharing our journey together.
Let me ask you – What are three things you wish you were doing, or are curious about trying?
What’s holding you back?
If you’re like me, it’s that same old fear of failing.
Here’s the thing – it’s not just some cute bumper sticker to say – The only failure is not trying.
Don’t let fear lead. Try.
Trust me – if it doesn’t work out, you are strong enough. You’ll be okay.
AND, trying is the only way to really find out what you CAN DO!
Dear One, It’s Time! Onward, Dear Guides!
