A Guiding Light, Dear Creator!
Today, there is blue sky mixed with clouds. Just before sunrise, a deep rust-red painted the undersides of the clouds in the east.
It snowed much of yesterday, and we probably got 6-8 inches of powdery snow. We may get a little more snow through the weekend.
During and after my morning meditation yesterday, I carried an image of a guiding light. Blazing like a headlamp, I imagined its light shining forward, every moment illuminating the truth of what I faced, every moment lighting the next step on The Way.
We are made up of the stuff of planets and stars, the same stuff as galaxies. But, putting those atoms and molecules together, we would still be just a thing, like an empty cardboard shipping box.
We are also energy – the spark of electricity that jolts the muscles of our hearts, tingles the nerves in our bodies, and makes the thoughts and memories in our heads. Energy is our language and currency, from the spark we produce with each breath we take, to the banks of energy photosynthesized from the sun and stored in all the matter we can touch and see.
Likewise, walking The Way is an awareness of all; a balance. Even while moving forward and navigating the physical, the landscape of our surroundings; it is the mastery of our internal harmony – our motivations, intentions, and equanimity – that proves most critical on our journey.
It’s not just important where we get to. Why we go, and how we do it, are what really matter.
So, a Prompt:
Dear One, what matters to you? What do you stand for?
You get to choose, always, how you show up in the world.
At first, you may not see that you have a choice. Then, when you do, that choice may seem difficult.
Following The Way, guided by your Integrity, is not always easy; but, it is simple.
Do what you know to do. Each moment.
It’s the energy of Light, Love, and Freedom.
