I was out paddling today.  It was a beautiful day—unseasonably warm, hardly any breeze, and not a cloud in the sky.

It was just me, another kayaker, a paddleboarder, and a few folks out fishing.  And quite a few ducks.

It’s been a while since I’ve been out on the water.  I always feel different after paddling.  It may seem cliché, but things seem to slow down, and I feel more in rhythm with the natural world around me.  Time on the water, with tree-lined banks and big sky overhead, makes me feel connected to the elements.

I realized what I’ve been missing, and what I needed.

Of course, I’ve also been attending to my “Today’s Centering Thought” posts, so that consistently gets me out in nature, and has been allowing me to practice honing my photographic eye.  The walks and runs I take almost every day bring me that same comfort and peace.

Now, your place may not be out on the water or on a trail.  I get that.

But, wherever and whatever your place is—Go There.  Regularly.

That’s the kind of thing you should schedule for yourself.  That is an example of You Loving You.

Because, that’s the exact kind of thing that keeps us in our peace.  Calms our worries.  Soothes our pains.  Opens our hearts.

And, once we have that, we bring our BEST SELVES to the world, and help make it a little brighter and more loving.

Give yourself Your Place.  Because you need it, and you deserve it.  And, the world needs you!
