When did life get so freakin’ complicated?

Wasn’t it just a few years ago when you knew what you were supposed to do? What you wanted? How the world worked, and how you fit into it?

Wasn’t that just a second ago??

Now, though, more times than not, you feel like you’re white-knuckling the steering wheel just trying to stay on the road. If you’re being honest, a lot of the time you’re feeling frustrated and resentful about all that is expected and put on you; and, the rest of the time, you’re feeling like you’re just not enough, and worrying that you’re letting everyone, including yourself, down.

How does this happen–that you get raised and groomed to follow a certain path, and you do all the things you are told to do, and follow each prescribed step, one after the next—yet, suddenly, you find yourself feeling COMPLETELY LOST?

LOST, in the sense that you don’t recognize your surroundings, you don’t really remember how you got here, and you can’t locate your footsteps to even retrace your way back to something familiar. You look around and feel zero connection to what’s around you OR who you’ve become.

A big part of the problem is that our brains like “easy”—which, to our brains, means repeatable patterns, assumptions, and auto-pilot. Our brains, and our society, love the notion that there is a standard (“easy”) blueprint to follow to reach successJust follow this simple 13-step process to earn a 6-digit income in 6 months!!

What auto-pilot and the cookie-cutter plans leave out are your heart, your personality, your passions, your creativity—your YOU!

This is why you can be where you are now and not recognize it or how you got here. Because you were taught not to slow down to feel the breeze, smell the summer scents in the air, or pause and breathe with the setting sun. No taking time to notice your emotions and what you are physically feeling, no discerning how aligned something is with your values and purpose—that just wastes time and bogs you down.

When you just put your head down and mindlessly follow the path someone else has laid out in front of you, the only place you’re going to wind up is where they wanted you to go. And where most everyone else is winding up.

Maybe that’s not for you. Maybe that place isn’t working for you anymore. Or never really did.

Maybe you’re feeling that you want something else. Something better. Something more meaningful, and more beautiful. Something more YOU!

I can help you find your way back to yourself. This is one flavor of the work I love to do with folks as a life coach. Let me help you find YOU.
